Step into my sonic wonderland: TOY TIGER STUDIOS!

If you want your recordings to sound like your band ACTUALLY SOUNDS (on a good day), as well as bottling all the energy of a live performance, you need to be recording LIVE!

And YES, that includes vocals!

(don't panic, you can record seperately if you want!)

I capture recordings with precision and passion, and over that last decade have specialised in recording and mixing bands 100% LIVE.

I have been recording my own bands since 2003, alot of which involved multitracking myself. (I basically spent 10 years on my own in the garage.)

Which was brilliant! :D

But...

While I cover all aspects of recording here, I enjoy nothing more than just getting the sound of the whole band in the room right, by using the right mics, gear and techniques - to capture that live musical mojo straight from the band, in real time.

With excellent acoustics in our large open-plan room, your whole band will be able to enjoy playing - together - while hearing yourselves perfectly,
using a combination of live sound monitoring and personal headphone mixes.

I currently record on Tues, Weds & Thurs, and have 3 x 3hr time slots available per day.

10am-1pm
2:30pm-5:30pm
7pm-10pm

Each 3hr session costs £100.

99% or recording I do is evening sessions, so these slots are worth booking as far in advance as possible. We also offer band rehearsals in the evenings, so time (at least 3 weeks) is required to give these bands ample notice.

In my experience, a 3 hr session is time enough to record and finish 1 song.

From set-up and soundcheck, recording and getting a great take, any editing & mixing, through to completion.

Bang for buck increases if we do a double (or triple) session, as once we are set-up and sounchecked - that doesn't need doing from scratch,

so we can ramp up the recording.

Going from an estimated 1 song in 1 session - to 3 or 4 songs in 2 sessions.

The Beatles (look them up) famously recorded their debut album Please Please Me in 1 day at Abbey Road.

They did it in 3 x 3hr sessions (the exact timings I have copied!)

Although they had been gigging their songs for months, so were primed and ready....

But it proves that it CAN be done!

Be rehearsed. Be ready and ready to hit record!

Don't let your next recordings leave you dissapointed and deflated.

Don't overspend on studios that wow you with a large (unused) mixing console but underdeliver on the important stuff.

How does it actually SOUND?

If you want a whirlwind tour to check the studio out and see if it might be right for your band, just call into Claptrap during the weekend to see me.

I’m here to help! Let's capture some recordings that are as dynamic as your onstage presence.

Join me in the studio, and let’s get it done and GET IT OUT THERE!
